Hydrophilic Expanding Polyurethane Paste
Our hydrophilic expanding sealant is a single-component polyurethane paste with high swelling capacity. It is mainly used as a waterstop for waterproofing construction joints in industrial and civil buildings, for injection into cavities or cracks in concrete structures, and more generally in all complex joints where standard bentonite joints or PVC waterstops cannot be used.
This hydrophilic expanding paste can also be used for fixing expansion strips such as our bentonite joint.
The product is solvent-free, can be applied on dry or damp substrates, operates at temperatures from +5°C to +45°C, has a setting time of approximately 24 hours, and maintains its properties unchanged over time.

Our hydrophilic expanding polyurethane sealant is available in two types of packaging: 310 ml cartridges, extrudable with standard silicone dispensing guns, or 600 ml tubular packs.
The hydrophilic expanding sealant is polyurethane-based and features a marked swelling capacity upon contact with water. The product also has excellent adhesive properties on both smooth and rough surfaces, ranging from PVC to concrete. It is an extremely flexible waterstop product and is therefore used in all situations where a standard waterstop is difficult to apply.
This hydrophilic expanding paste is mainly used for small cracks, tight joints, and damage in concrete structures. It may also be used as a replacement for traditional joints, although only in rare cases. For perfect sealing performance, it is very important to correctly dose the amount of sealant applied to the surfaces.
For the cartridge version, simply use a utility knife to cut the nozzle at different heights and with more or less inclined sections to obtain lower or higher product output.
Given its high swelling capacity, it is important to apply the product on dry surfaces to avoid premature expansion of the paste. When applied to socketed pipes, particular attention must be paid to the possible presence of lubricating oils, which must be removed before applying the sealant.
Applications of the Hydrophilic Expanding Sealant
- Sealing of pipe penetrations: the polyurethane sealant can be used to waterproof pipe connections in concrete structures. The product adheres to concrete, steel, stone, rigid PVC, but is not suitable for polypropylene;
- Waterproofing of construction joints: the hydrophilic expanding sealant can be used instead of the bentonite joint or in combination with it. On dust-free concrete surfaces, dry or damp, create a bead with a 35 × 12 mm cross-section inside the reinforcement, with a concrete cover of at least 8 cm.
- Fixing of the bentonite joint: the product can also be used in combination with our bentonite joint to fix it in position, replacing standard adhesive and nails;
