Metal Waterstop for Construction Joints
The joint steel sheet represents the new frontier of waterproofing for construction joints. It is a galvanized steel sheet used as an alternative to standard PVC waterstops in situations where high performance is required, such as resistance to high water pressure or extreme environmental conditions. The advantages of using a metal waterstop solution are numerous: guaranteed long-lasting waterproofing, resistance to high pressures even with minimal thicknesses, and reduced installation time thanks to the easy overlap between joints that eliminates the need for welding.
The metal waterstops can be fixed to the upper reinforcement layer using special fixing clips or through feet, for models equipped with them. The reduced thickness compared to conventional waterstops is compensated by the coating applied to the sheets.
We offer several types of joint steel sheets, supplied in rolls or strips, with different fixing systems and coating materials, in order to effectively meet all construction requirements. The roll solution further reduces installation time by minimizing joints. Depending on the model, available sheet heights are 80 mm, 120 mm, 140 mm, or 160 mm.
Metal Waterstop for Joints LW-01
This is the most common type. It is a metal waterstop consisting of a galvanized steel sheet, coated on both sides with a solvent-free reactive polymer coating.
It is available in different configurations: strips and rolls that can be fixed to the reinforcement using special fixing clips, or versions already equipped with fixing feet:
- LW01 strips (length 2.4 m): height 80 mm and 160 mm
- LW01 rolls (length 20 m): height 120 mm, 160 mm and 240 mm
- LW01 rolls with fixing feet (length 20 m): height 160 mm
Metal Waterstop for Joints LW-02 WITH FIXING GUIDE
This is also a galvanized steel metal waterstop coated on both sides; however, unlike the LW-01 model, it features a full-length fixing guide at the base, making installation on the reinforcement even easier and faster. The fixing guide width is 20 mm, and the bars have a standard length of 2.50 m. The coating is protected by a film that must be removed before installation.
Metal Waterstop for Joints LW-03 WITH bentonite coating
This special metal waterstop for joints is manufactured with one side fully coated with bentonite. This hydrophilic coating must be placed on the side exposed to water and provides additional protection, making the product extremely high-performing. The metal waterstop is supplied in rolls of 10 m length and has a height of 160 mm. It is fixed to the reinforcement using special clips.
Application
Installation of the metal waterstop for joints is extremely fast: simply unroll the product or position the strips, taking care to remove the protective film as late as possible. In the case of a metal waterstop coated on only one side, it should be installed with the coated side facing the area where water infiltration may occur. Before pouring, the metal waterstop is fixed to the horizontal reinforcement using special clips, feet, or guides (depending on the model), ensuring full coverage of the construction joint to create a closed system. It is important to provide overlaps at joints and not simply place the sheets edge to edge. Corners can be easily formed by bending the metal waterstop.
The metal waterstop has a protective film divided into two parts: for slab casting, only the lower film needs to be removed. The upper film will be removed only during the casting of the vertical structure.
